Finding the cause of a health problem can be tricky. But as always, there is a simple solution. The tests described below are an easy way to eliminate the guesswork of many issues. Quite often very different conditions show identical or similar symptoms which is pretty baffling and can cause both time and money to be wasted on inappropriate therapies to try and solve them.
I want to get to the bottom of all my client’s problems in the most efficient and effective way! In most cases, it’s best if you book a consultation first and we can discuss your symptoms and recommend the correct tests.

How Common Are Food Allergies And Food Intolerances?
Food intolerances are estimated to affect 45% of the UK population, whereas a food allergy affects approximately 2% of the adult population.
It can be assumed that food intolerances have increased over the years, with speculation that changes in agriculture practices, antibiotic usage and environmental pollution could be responsible.
Symptoms of food intolerance include:
- Abdominal pain or cramping
- A massage oil, of your choice will be applied to the skin to allow free movement of the massage techniques and to nourish the skin.
- Vomiting
- Tiredness
- Headaches and migraines
- Skin issues, such as acne, eczema, psoriasis or urticaria
- Constipation or diarrhoea
- Anxiety or depression
- Respiratory issues, such as rhinitis and sinusitis
- Joint pain, swelling, fibromyalgia and arthritis
The above symptoms can take hours or up to 3 days to appear. Therefore, it can be difficult to pinpoint your reaction, especially if a person has more than one food trigger. In contrast, food allergy symptoms can vary from mild to severe, usually appearing from 30 minutes to two hours after eating the food.
Do you suffer from these common ailments?
If you suffer from headaches, nausea, stomach problems like bloating or wind, skin problems, fatigue, asthma or sinusitis, your diet could be the cause. I recommend you start to keep a Food Diary, (I have designed a Food Diary for you to download.) Record what you eat and see how you feel afterwards – you might get a surprise when you’ve written down everything you eat in a normal day, especially when you find out what those foods may actually contain!

Gut Microbiome Testing (GutMap)
Most people think gut health is just about digestion. But here’s the truth: Your gut microbiome (the trillions of bacteria living inside you) can influence:
- Your immune system
- Your hormones
- Your mood and anxiety levels
- Your energy and metabolism
- Your skin
- Your sleep
- Your inflammation levels
- Even how well you tolerate stress
Why Is the Microbiome So Important?
Let’s make it simple: Your microbiome is like an internal ecosystem. When it’s balanced, it supports you. When it’s disrupted, it can quietly drive symptoms for years.
Thought-provoking questions to consider:
- What if your bloating isn’t “normal”… but a sign your gut is struggling?
- What if your fatigue isn’t you being lazy… but inflammation you can’t see?
- What if your anxiety isn’t just “in your head”… but linked to your gut-brain connection?
- What if your hormones aren’t broken… but your detox pathways are overloaded?
- What if your immune system isn’t weak… but constantly fighting something behind the scenes?
This is why microbiome testing can be life-changing. Because it gives context to symptoms that are often dismissed.
Who Is GutMap Testing For?
GutMap is ideal if you’ve been experiencing symptoms like:
- Bloating, wind, reflux or stomach discomfort
- Constipation or diarrhoea
- IBS-type symptoms
- Food sensitivities
- Brain fog
- Low energy or chronic fatigue
- Anxiety, low mood or poor sleep
- Skin issues (eczema, acne, rosacea)
- Frequent infections
- Autoimmune conditions
- Hormonal imbalance or stubborn PMS
- Feeling “not yourself” for a long time
Another question worth asking: How long have you been told your tests are “normal”… while you still don’t feel normal?
The Benefits of GutMap Testing
1) It helps you understand the root cause Many people spend years treating symptoms. GutMap helps us understand what’s driving them. Because once we know what’s going on, we can stop throwing random supplements at the wall and hoping something sticks.
- targeted nutrition
- strategies specific
- probiotic and prebiotic support
- gut-healing nutrients
- antimicrobial support (only if needed)
- lifestyle and nervous system support
- skin flare-ups
- fatigue
- anxiety
- hormonal issues
- immune dysfunction
- stubborn inflammation
4) It can reveal hidden infections or imbalances Some infections and overgrowths don’t show up in standard testing — but they can still drain your energy, disrupt digestion, and keep inflammation switched on.
GutMap helps identify them clearly.

Gut Diagnostics – Stool Test
Prices vary for our stool sampling. We offer a great range of discounts if you order more than one test. Click below for a full list of prices, and get in touch to book!
When you have a stool sample, you can test for bacteria, viruses and parasites and also check for problems with digestive enzymes if you’re having digestive problems. The tests also show an analysis of the digestive flora, including it’s health, which bacteria are present (good and bad) and markers showing the health of your immune system, as well as many other results.
These are vital for me as your therapist, as they ensure that I tailor your treatment exactly to the state of your digestive system and put in place an effective treatment plan to get the best outcome for you.
Choosing a test
There are many different tests that can be ordered depending on the symptoms that you’re feeling.
The key to successful stool testing is simple:
- Choose as many test parameters as necessary, but as few as possible to help manage your finances – there’s no point in spending money unnecessarily!
- Uncover the underlying cause of your symptoms.
- Target the problem with a specific and effective treatment plan.
How does it work?
In order to get the best out of this service an Initial Consultation is required, which you can book online.
During the consultation, we will talk about any symptoms you may be having and identify which tests I would recommend you have.
You will then receive the testing kit through the post to your home and you follow the simple instructions to carry out testing there. Once complete, you take your testing kit to the post office and send back in the prepaid envelop provided.
Approximately two weeks later (the lab is in Germany so it can’t be done any sooner…there is not an express option!), you will receive the results through the post with recommendations and advice for your next steps.
You will then need to book a follow-up consultation online to go through the results together (some tests will come back with result-specific therapy plans that include diet, supplement and hygiene recommendations), we will discuss the results mean and identify the best treatment for you.

Probiotics
Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts which can be added to dairy products or taken as a supplement. We all have them naturally in a healthy digestive system, but when your internal balance is a bit out of whack, for example after an illness or course of antibiotics, levels of these friendly bacteria are lowered.
Different probiotics can help in different ways, either by attaching themselves to the surface of the bowel and boosting our immune system or by helping to suppress the growth of unfriendly bacteria.
As you know, at the Complete Health Clinic, we like to look after you from top to …. er…..bottom. I tend to recommend the Just For Tummies range and Optibac probiotics, as their products are carefully researched and contain bacteria at levels that really work.
What makes a good probiotic?
The best supplements contain a variety of different, well-researched strains such as lactobacillus acidophilus, and should also tell you the family and species of the bacteria. A good supplement should also contain high numbers of bacteria (aim for at least 10 million per dose), as stomach acid means a lot of bacteria is killed before it actually makes it the system. Some of the yoghurts and drinks on the market just don’t contain enough bacteria, and some are also packed with sugar – so you may not be doing your body as big a favour as you think you are!
Stick to a reputable brand!
Some people find probiotics really useful, but if you’re thinking of giving them a try remember they’re classed as food rather than medicine. This means that they’re not tested in the same way, and aren’t subject to the same restrictions. That doesn’t mean that some probiotics you can buy will do you any harm, just that they might not do you any good! Some probiotics don’t contain enough of the live bacteria to have any effect, so stick to a reputable brand.
