Let’s Talk About The Menopause Gut Connection

Hello, my lovely Clients!

Can you believe we’re already in October?

For this month’s read, it’s Menopause Awareness Week, and it’s the perfect time to talk about how menopause affects more than just your mood. So let’s get into why it happens – and what you can do.

But, before we start… Important Clinic Access Update

Here’s the latest travel update:

  • Lowry Car Park: Access should be easier this month, with the main entrance likely open again.
  • Trinity Bridge: Closed on 13th October 2025 for the foreseeable future due to health and safety concerns for demolition.
  • Alternative Access: Use Blackfriars or Bridge Street to reach the back of the hotel. If visiting after dark, please take extra care.

Let’s talk about the Menopause

Menopause is a whole-body transition. If you’ve suddenly developed bloating, constipation, or reflux without changing your diet, your hormones may be the culprit.

🤰🏻Oestrogen – normally keeps digestion moving. When it dips, that support vanishes.

😩 Cortisol – the stress hormone, often rises as oestrogen falls. Stress slows digestion, creating the perfect storm for gut woes.
So, here’s your action plan for taming the bloat, constipation & low moods:

🥑 Eat to Support Hormones – fibres like veg & fruit, healthy fats like sesame & coconut oil and fermented foods like kefir.

🥜 Love Your Liver – fibre helps remove excess hormones – try leafy greens & artichokes to help.

🚰 Lifestyle Hacks – chew thoroughly, hydrate smartly and alternate to herbal teas

🧘🏼‍♀️ Rest & Reset – prioritise sleep & incorporate supplements like Vitamin B, Magnesium or Ashwagandha.

Your body is working hard during this stage of life. With a little gut-friendly care, you can feel lighter, calmer, and more energized as you move through menopause and beyond.
