July has arrived, bringing sunshine, BBQs, holidays and plenty to celebrate – including England’s fantastic World Cup victory yesterday!
While we’re all enjoying the summer fun (and perhaps a few celebratory treats!), our digestive systems are often working overtime too.
After more than 22 years of helping people improve their gut health, one thing has become clear: when your gut feels good, everything else seems to follow. Better energy, improved digestion, less bloating, a happier mood and a healthier body all start from within.
This month’s blog is packed with simple seasonal tips, a gentle reminder to be kind to yourself, and details of some wonderfully relaxing events happening this month. So pop the kettle on, get comfortable and enjoy!

Your gut LOVES routineβ¦ Summer doesnβt!
After 22 years of working with people from all walks of life, we’ve noticed something interesting. Every summer, we hear the same story.
“I’ve been feeling absolutely fine… then we went away for a few days.” or… “The children broke up from school, we’ve been eating later, having BBQs, enjoying a few more drinks, and now I just don’t feel quite myself.”
Sound familiar?
The truth is, your digestive system thrives on routine. Not a strict, military-style schedule, but the gentle rhythm of everyday life – regular meals, enough water, daily movement, good sleep, and moments to slow down and relax.
Then summer arrives…
Suddenly, late nights become the norm. Holidays interrupt familiar habits. Barbecues replace everyday meals. We celebrate more, travel more, eat differently, and often drink less water than we realise – especially when the weather is warm.
None of this is a bad thing. In fact, making memories, enjoying good food, and embracing the slower pace of summer is exactly what the season is for.
But your gut notices the change.
Gut Wisdom after 22 years in Colonic Hydrotherapy
After more than two decades of supporting people with their digestive health, one thing has become very clear:
Healthy digestion is rarely about perfection.
It’s about consistency.
The people who tend to feel their best aren’t necessarily following the latest diet trend or buying the newest supplements. More often than not, they’re simply looking after the basics – day in, day out.
They:
- Drink enough water.
- Eat a wide variety of nourishing foods.
- Include plenty of fibre.
- Move their bodies regularly.
- Listen when their body is asking for rest.
- Prioritise good-quality sleep whenever they can.
These simple habits may not be glamorous, but they really do make a difference.
Staying balanced this summer
Rather than trying to be “good” all the time, aim for gentle balance.
A few small habits can help your digestive system stay happy while you enjoy everything summer has to offer:
- Keep a water bottle nearby and sip regularly throughout the day.
- Add colourful salads, vegetables or fruit alongside your BBQ favourites.
- If you’re travelling, take opportunities to stretch your legs and keep moving.
- Don’t wait until you feel thirsty before drinking water.
- After a rich meal, a gentle walk can work wonders for both digestion and how you feel.
- Most importantly, remember that one weekend of celebrations doesn’t undo months of healthy habits.
Enjoy Summer – Your Gut Will Thank You
Summer is meant to be enjoyed, not spent worrying about every meal or every treat.
The key isn’t perfection – it’s returning to the simple routines that help your body feel its best.
Your gut is remarkably resilient. Give it a little consistency, plenty of hydration, and a bit of kindness, and it will usually return the favour.
Here’s to enjoying the sunshine, making memories, and keeping your gut happy along the way.
